Jonathan, Tambuwal Congratulates Oshiomhole

President Goodluck Jonathanon on Sunday congratulated Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on his re-election in Saturday’s governorship polls.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati, Jonathan commended INEC and the security services for ensuring that the election was free and fair.

He said that the successful conduct of the election was in line with his administration’s commitment to continually strengthen democracy through the establishment of a more credible electoral system.

The President urged Oshiomhole to receive the fresh mandate as an endorsement of his outstanding performance in his first term.

He also urged the governor to see his re-election as an expression of the desire of the Edo people for “the continuation of focused, purposeful and dynamic leadership’’.

The President said he expected that the governor would work even harder in his second term to justify the confidence in his leadership clearly expressed by the electorate.

He gave assurance that the Federal Government would continue to give all possible support and assistance for the development of the state.

Jonathan wished Oshiomhole continued good health and a successful second term in the service of the state and the country.

In the same note, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, also congratulates Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over his reelection as Governor of Edo State.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Malam Imam Imam in Abuja Sunday, Tambuwal noted that Oshiomhole’s victory was a manifestation of the people’s trust and confidence in his leadership.

The Speaker implored the Governor to rise above partisan consideration and carry along all people in the task of building the state.

He tasked Oshiomhole to see the fresh mandate given to him as a call to further duty in the service of his Fatherland and an immense opportunity to carry forward the policies and projects initiated during his first term to promote progress and development Edo? State.

While urging the losers in the election to accept the result in good fate and cooperate with the winner in the interest of the people, Tambuwal said any decision to challenge the outcome should be limited to the confines of the law.

He pledged the cooperation of the House of Representatives to the new Governor, saying the lawmakers will work with all persons and interest groups to deepen democracy in the country.
