The House of Representatives, yesterday, approved the 2012 budget of Nigeria Communication Communications (NCC) to the tune of N52 billion.
Going by the NCC budget breakdown, N13 billion was earmarked for recurrent expenditure, N6 billion for transfer to the federation account, N10 billion for transfer to Universal Service? Fund, while N 31 billion is for capital and special projects
The budget consist N13.959 billion recurrent and N9.501 billion as capital expenditure. NCC earmarked N941.168 million for travels while N7.354 billion is for school support programme and N1.762 billion for internal projects.
N3.801 billion is for operational cost, N1.546 billion for administration cost and N7.508 billion as staff cost.
N11.508 billion was allotted for special projects. This is made up of emergency communications centres, (N2.8 billion); Wire Nigeria Projects, (N2.3billion); state accelerated broadband initiative (N2.5 billion), GSM and CDMA networks QS (N3.200 billion) and ICT training at Digital Bridge Institute (N500 million).
