Equity transaction plummeted yesterday with the twin market indicators on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), falling by 0.91 per cent.
A review of the day’s transaction showed that, highly capitalised stocks comprising of 16 companies recorded price depreciation while 23 others appreciated in price.
Consequently, market capitalisation dropped by N68 billion or 0.91 per cent, from N7.440 trillion recorded on Monday to N7.372 trillion while All-Share Index dipped by 211.81 points or 0.91 per cent, from 23,381.05 to 23,169.24.
Particularly at the close of transaction in the day, Honeywell Plc topped the day’s losers’ table with 5.00 per cent to close at N1.90 while Livestocks Feeds Plc followed with 4.90 per cent, to close at N1.36 per share.
On the other hand Air Service Plc emerged the day’s highest price gainer with 4.85 per cent to close at N1.73 per share while Flour Mills Plc followed, adding 4.76 per cent, to close at N55.00 per share.
With transaction exchanged in 2,308 deals, the banking sub-sector maintained its dominance in volume terms with 178.4 million shares, worth N1.6 billion.
