Former 200 metres African queen, Tina Iheagwam has described the International Olympic Committee(IOC), action, confirming Nigerian 4×400 metres relay team the winner of Sydney 2000 Olympic Games as a good omen.
Iheagwam in an exclusive interview with LEADERSHIP SPORTS in Lagos, said despite the IOC delay in rewarding the Gold medal to Nigeria which was initially won by the USA,? ended up exposing athletes who cheat during the championship adding that such action would serve as a good example to others who use drugs to achieve their goal.?
“The IOC action last week when the body retrieved the gold medal from the United State 4×400 metres relay team because of drug was a good omen. This was done after 12 years when the main truth has been revealed,” she said.
