?Top sports stars Usain Bolt and Novak Djokovic were the cynosure of many eyes on Friday during the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that they drew much of the attention as they led out their teams during the march-past.
Though the duo were just two of the handful of world renowned sports stars on parade at the Games,? they attracted the most attention as a result of their standings in their respective events.
Olympics 100 metres and 200 metres defending champion Bolt may not be the major attraction in Jamaica now, owing to back and hamstring injuries.
They have combined to help teammate Yohan Blake, who had been threatening his position but he still led out his country during the march-past to the admiration of many.
Immediately he emerged from the side tunnel at the head of Team Jamaica with their national flag, the arena crowd roared in appreciation.
A good number of the Games workforce personnel and volunteers also struggled to get near him.
Two of the fans actually mimicked his trademark act now synonymous with his victories on the tracks.
On the stands and the sidelines, games photographers were not left out as they strived to take good shots of the sprinter.
He also demonstrated some of his antics as he marched round the pitch.
Djokovic, the world tennis number two, was also a popular figure as he led out Team Serbia with many spectators calling out to him to turn their way for them to take his picture.
But he seemed not to be listening to them as he struggled with his country's flag, which the wind was almost snatching from his hands.
Other notables included the likes of women 800 metres star Caster Semanya of South Africa and men tennis star Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland.
Marcos Baghdatis, who is a male tennis star from Cyprus and polish women tennis player Agnieszka Radwanska, were also not left out.
Though not as popular as Bolt and Djokovic, they were also not ignored as their fans kept on hailing them as they carried their respective countries' flags.
NAN reports that 205 countries including Nigeria were represented during the march-past, with the surprise team being the Independent Olympic Athletes.

This group comprises athletes, who were unable to compete at the Games under the name of their respective countries and a team of two male and one female athlete represented them during the march-past.?
