The PDP in Edo has demanded an apology from Gov. Adams Oshiomhole for allegedly accusing the party and its leadership of being responsible for the death of his Principal Private Secretary, Mr Olaitan Oyerinde.
The Youth Leader of PDP in the state, Mr Vincent Akhere, made this known while addressing newsmen in Benin on Thursday.
“I am calling on Oshiomhole to tender an unreserved apology to Edo PDP and its leaders within the next 14 days failing which we shall legitimately seek legal redress,’’ Akhere said.
He said the Oshiomhole accused the PDP and its leaders of being responsible for the killing of his Principal Private Secretary in his private residence in Benin.
Akhere commended the Inspector General of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar and the State Security Service (SSS) for unravelling the killers of Oshiomhole’s aide.
He said that the spate of insecurity in the state gave rise to the accusation of so many people over the death of Oyerinde.
“I am happy to inform you gentlemen of the press that the cat has been let out of the bag through the confessional statements made to the police and SSS by the six suspects arrested so far in respect of the dastardly act.
Meanwhile, the Conflict Resolution and Early Warning (SCREW), a non-governmental organisation, has described the accusation of David Ugolor as suspect in the murder as spurious and baseless.
A statement signed by the Director of the SCREW, Mr Igbotako Nowinta, called for the immediate release of Ugolor.
“We believe that Ugolor is being framed up and unjustly held because he is innocent and has no case to answer.
“This ugly development has further displayed the fact that we live in a country where anything goes, where responsible citizens are flushed down the drain, while the evil men have their ways,’’ it stated.
