Nigeria’s fastest man, Obinna Metu crashed out of the 100 metres race in the London Olympics, after he failed to qualify from the pack of eight sprinters in the semi finals race decided yesterday at the Olympics Stadium in Stratford.
Metu finished with a time of 10.35 seconds, a timing not enough to see him reach the finals in heat 5. Also out of the finals of the 100 metres race is Nigerian Egwero Ogho-Oghene. Both men will not compete at the finals of the 100 metres race.
Metu raced against Jamaican Asafa Powell who won the heat in a time of 10.04 seconds to advance to the finals while Gemili Adam of Great Britain came second in 10.11 seconds and the third qualifier in the heat, Martina Churandy from Netherland clocked 10.20 seconds.
Ghasemi Reza from Ireland came fourth with 10.31 seconds while Obinna Metu emerged fifth with a timing of 10.35 seconds.
