The Enugu Police Command has apprehended a notorious criminal and serial killer who allegedly participated in the abduction of? Professor Ben Mbah,? the Provost, College of Education, Eha Amufu in Isiuzo Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Okoro from Obeokwu? Umunkiri in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State ,was also said to have killed three police men in Rivers State recently.

He reportedly killed Professor Mbah’ s orderly, identified as corporal Ikpi Arikpo before abducting him.

A release made available to LEADERSHIP? by the Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu State, Ebere Amaraizu, said operatives of the Anti kidnap Squad of the? command “have? been on the trail of the suspect since last year”.

“Suspect who gave his name as Emmanuel Okoro from Obeokwu Umunkiri in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State and popularly known as J-Boy as nickname was trailed and arrested at Eleme junction axis of Rivers State on 3/8/12.

“It could be recalled that suspect had on 28/6/12 allegedly participated in the kidnap of one professor Ben Mbah, the Provost, College of Education, Ehamufu in Isiuzo Local Government Area of Enugu State and also in that process, shot and killed the provost’s orderly identified as corporal Ikpi Arikpo.

“Narrating his involvement,J-Boy as he is addressed by his associates, confessed that he actually took part in the kidnap of the provost and that he was the one that shot and killed the provost’s orderly during the incident and pointed out that one of the gang members that brought them to Ehamufu, stated that the said orderly, had identified him, and that there was need to kill him to avoid being identified, hence he shot and killed the orderly.”

“He also maintained that earlier in the year 2011,he led an armed robbery gang that allegedly robbed First Bank, Ehamufu where a bank manager and bank security personnel were allegedly killed and added? that he at times used to snatch cars and take to car stands and sell “

“He also revealed and narrated how he shot and killed three policemen in Rivers State.

“During his arrest, he was picked up with one of his gang members in the business of car snatching/stealing who is identified as one Martins Okoye and? who is also helping the police in their investigations” Amraizu stated.
