An explosive-laden truck detonated inside a U.S. military base on Tuesday in Eastern Afghanistan, injuring two Americans and 11 Afghans, police said.
“The incident took place in Pul-e-Alam city, the provincial capital of Logar province. An apparently gravel-loaded truck entered the base and blasted by the driver,” provincial police chief Ghulam Sakhi Rogh Lewanay told dpa.
“The injured were all civilians including the Americans working in the base,” he said.
The NATO-led military alliance confirmed the attack.
“We are aware of an explosion in Logar province outside an ISAF base,” Maj. Martin Crighton said.
“We are currently assessing the situation and the cause of the explosion. So far, we don’t have any fatalities among ISAF members. ”
The Taliban movement claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it caused 10 casualties among U. S. troops. (dpa/NAN)
