The Minister?of FCT, Sen. Bala Mohammed, in Abuja on Friday advised ?residents of the territory to embrace peace and be their brother’s keeper during and after the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
The advice is contained in a statement issued by Malam Muhammad Sule, the Chief Press Secretary to the minister.
The minister congratulated Muslims?in Nigeria, especially those living in the?FCT, as they celebrated Eid-el-Fitr.?
He said the attainment of?sustainable development could only be achieved in a peaceful environment.
The?minister said the president was working with?security agencies to create an enabling environment that would guarantee peaceful co-existence among the people.
He said that?the holy month of Ramadan was an inspiration to Muslims to show compassion, mercy and kindness to their fellow citizens.
The minister?advised Muslims to use?the opportunity to put?smiles on the faces of others by being their brother’s keeper.
He also?urged Muslims to reflect on the lessons learnt during the Ramadanand continue to imbibe its teachings, which?primarily centred on selflessness, sacrifice, patience, modesty and spirituality.
Mohammed urged Muslims to pray for the nation “as it strives to become one of the best 20?developed countries in?the world''.
He promised FCT residents of adequate security, adding that?the security agencies in the FCT were adequately prepared in?case of any unexpected criminal activities during and after the celebration. (NAN)
