The Federal Government is set to sign Performance Agreement Contract with all ministers to enhance the quality of service delivery to Nigerians.
In a statement made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday, the Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, made this known while signing the Performance Agreement Contract with the chief executives of agencies and parastatals under the ministry.
According to him: “The initiative of the President is to ensure that, henceforth, governance is judged by the quality of service delivery and not by financial input.”
He stated that the National Planning Commission (NPC) had developed Key Performance Indicators for Ministries, Departments and Agencies, which will serve as guide in measuring their performance and output.
“In furtherance of this, all Ministers are equally directed by the President to sign Performance Agreement Contracts with their directors and chief executives of agencies and parastatals under them in order to deliver on the target set out for them,” he said.
This is even as he urged the chief executives to ensure that workers under them live up to their responsibilities through enhanced performances.
Maku also revealed that the Ministry of Information would increase the tempo in the fight against piracy and the standardisation of Nigerian Films for them to get to their peak in the industry.
He hinted that he hoped to realise the Key Performance Indicators for the Ministry through human capacity development, diligence and better management of financial resources.
