Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubukar III yesterday expressed displeasure over media reports allegedly exaggerating issues concerning the North and Islamic religion in the country.
The Sultan made the oberservation yesterday when he hosted media representives to a dinner at his palace in Sokoto. The monarch, who is the the spiritual leader of the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria, said that the media outfit have been ridiculing the image of the religion.
He said Islam does not preach violence or terrorism, but people tend to believe that the religions is all about violence” .
The spiritual leader, however, stated that some media are only exaggerating for their selfish interest and? for commercial purposes and added that “this would not? augur well for the peaceful? co-existence that exist between the two major religions in the country.
Instead, he said that the media should help the society through enlightenment on the importance of understanding their differences and work together for continuity and stability in the nation at large.
