She told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Okitipupa that the centre also had mother and child programme for pregnant women.

Ebisemiju?said a “health ranger programme” which involved going from house to house to take care of pregnant women, had commenced in the community.

“We have 24 health rangers in Okitipupa local government area, with four rangers assigned to each of the six health centres in the area,” she said.

According to her, each health ranger takes care of 25 pregnant women from conception till delivery.

“After delivery, the women are entitled to free drugs for their children from 0-5 years, and each household in the community is entitled to two free insecticide-treated mosquito nets,’’ she disclosed.

She appealed to the state and local governments to provide office accommodation for the centre.

Ebisemiju said the old and dilapidated building being used by the centre in the community had been undergoing reconstruction in the past two years and had not been completed.

“We are presently using the Olusegun Agagu Library Building temporarily as our centre but the place will not allow for effective performance of our jobs.

“The rooms given to us in the building are small and not conducive. They can also not fully accommodate all our work,’’ she added. (NAN)
