No Talks Between FG, Boko Haram In Saudi Arabia – Shehu Sani

?

President of the Civil Right Congress (CRC), Comrade Shehu Sani, has faulted the claim of the ongoing dialogue between the federal government and the members of the Boko Haram sect? in Saudi Arabia, saying that the claim is a ploy by the federal government to deceive Nigerians.

He said, “The claim by the federal government is just a ploy by the government to give Nigerians hope that they were on top of combating the insecurity challenges bedeviling the nation.”

A deputy leader of the sect, Habu Mohammed, had last Monday, in faraway Mecca, Saudi Arabia, announced that the group was engaged in direct talks with the federal government on ending violence in the country’s north.

Mohammed, who claims to be a deputy to the sect leader, Sheikh Abubakar Shekau, was reported to have said that the group had decided to initiate the peace moves in response to numerous public appeals for peace in the country.

However, the civil right activist pointed out that the leadership of the sect had not come out categorically to the public, through its channel of communication, to speak on such decision to enter into talks with the government.

Sani who spoke to journalists said, “I am not aware of any talks going on. No credible talk is going on. If there are going to be any genuine talks, there should be confirmation from the leadership of the group and not the Government. Boko Haram, from what we know, the only channel of communication by the group is through YouTube posting by the leader, Sheikh Abubakar Shekau.”
