Former Super falcons goalkeeper Ann Echejinne has thumbed up the Falconets for their 2-nil wonderful performance against the Korea Republic on Sunday at the on-going FIFA Under 20 Women’s’ world cup in Japan.
Echejinne in an exclusive interview with Leadership Sports in Lagos said Falconets have done one of the right things by winning the first match pointing out the Ngozi Okobi’s 15 minutes goal made them to believe more in their selves.
One time save hands of the defunct Jegede babes’ football club of Lagos explained that the second goal from Desire Oparanozie in the 67th minute gave the falconets total control of the game despite the fact they are playing with one of the loving female football playing country.
“Starting on a winning way was so important in the round leather game, the game was a nice one, but the Nigerian side has done the necessary thing by having the three maximum points in the on-going U-20 World Cup.
“I am proud of them and i believe they will improve as the game progresses, they need not to to be carried away by their first victory against the South Korean side but still need to stick to the winning formula, they should always have it in mind that they can do better”.
The former Super Falcons assistant and coach urged Nigerians to continue to pray and support the team, and as well warned that Falconets should always be positive minded and never relax at every victory they have.
“We should continue to support them in our prayers, i will like them never to relax at any time they defeat any country in this ongoing women championship because with this first victory eyes are on them and don’t let us forget that we are the runners up at the last edition hosted and won by Germany” said Echejinne.
Nigeria next match is against Brazil who played one all draw against Italy in her opening match on Wednesday 22nd at the Saitama stadium.
