Security Issue Tops Nigeria-US Forum In Washington DC

All roads lead to?Marriott Wardman Park Hotel,?2600 Woodley Road, NW Washington, D.C. USA on Friday as Nigeria holds a World Diaspora Conference titled US-Nigeria Business, Trade and Investment Forum.

Apart from trade and investment issues, LEADERSHIP Correspondent in the United States reports that security issues in Nigeria will top the agenda of the global event.

According to Mr. Franklin Ekechuckwu, Chairman of the Planning Committee,?the US-Nigeria Trade Forum will be used to engage participants in productive and actionable discourse on innovative and creative ways to match United States foreign direct investors with small and medium businesses in Nigeria.

Mr. Ekechukwu pressed further that the conference will particularly encourage and facilitate on-site execution of MOUs and business contracts by participants. ?

He also added that the forum which will have the attendance of government and private officials from both Nigeria and the United States will offer opportunity for networking with business and political leaders from Nigeria and investors from the United States.?

His words: “By 2020, Nigeria hopes to become a member of the largest world economy. This world conference will create an environment in which investors will have opportunities to target the needs of each specific government and businesses from Nigeria; and tailor investment instruments to meet such needs”

Franklin Ekechukwu continued that the conference will focus in areas of Manufacturing and Real Estates, U.S/Nigeria Exports/Imports, Tourisms, Companies in telecommunications, cyber security, IT, consulting, construction, transportation, education, energy/utilities, finance and healthcare.

Those that have been confirmed for the event are the Nigeria's Ambassador to the United States, Prof. Ade Adefuye, some Nigerian governors, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Hon. Aminu Shehu Shagari, delegates from the United States and Nigeria and the Governor of the state of Maryland, Mr.Martin O'Malley.
