No fewer than 14 notorious armed robbers have been arrested yesterday by the Nasarawa State Police Command in Akwanga Local Government Area.
arading the suspects, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Michael Adah said that the suspects were arrested by the Police Anti Robbery Squad in Akwanga following a tip off.
He also said that this particular gang had been terrorising the people of Akwanga for the past six months, robbing homes and shops.
He added that the arrest was successful because the Anti Robbery Squad swung into action immediately after receiving an intelligence call from an informant.
He also added that the suspects would be charged to court immediately after investigations have been concluded by the police.
Items recovered from the robbers includes computers, television sets, DVD players, home theaters, clothings,? machetes, knives, guns, charms and N300,000 cash.
The PPRO also said that the police had adopted proactive measures to combat crime in Akwanga Local Government Area because of the increase in crime rate in the past few months.
He also urged the people of the state to provide the police with useful information that will help them in fighting crime.
