To prove the sincerity of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration and its claim of zero tolerance for corruption, the supreme head of Cherubim and Seraphim Church of Nigeria and Overseas, Prophet Solomon Adegboyega Alao, has recommended death penalty for corrupt public office holders.
Speaking with journalists yesterday during the 6th Annual Convention of C&S Unification Church of Nigeria, with the theme, “Judgement Must Begin at the House of God,” Alao said that death penalty would serve as a deterrent to criminals, adding that a drastic problem requires a drastic solution.
“There is no way investors can come to a country infected with insecurity and corruption. The only way to arrest the problem of corruption is to impose death penalty on those found guilty of it. This will serve as a deterrent to others,” he said.
Dr Alao also explained that the Boko Haram insurgency was a fall-out of corruption and injustice, stressing that it would not have gotten to this stage if action was taken in good time.
He said that the issue of negotiation with the sect was confusing as nobody would come out as sponsors of the sect.
On the 2015 elections, the C&S leader said that the religion of the next president, or where he comes from should be immaterial, pointing out that leaders should be patriotic and selfless.
