Operatives?of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Gombe State, have arrested four persons, suspected to have cultivated cannabis plantation in the state.
Mr Aliyu Adole,?Commander of the NDLEA in the state, made the disclosure?in Gombe on Friday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that two of the suspects, Haruna Manu and Ike Audu, were arrested in Kumo town, in Akko LGA, while Ishaya Hamza and Paul Maishanu were arrested in Maishanu town in Billiri LGA.
He said the suspects were arrested in a `mini’ cannabis plantation also known as `trial’ plantation with the aim of expanding the plantation.
“The suspects decided to cultivate the plantation at home because it is not easy to transport cannabis to Gombe from Kano and Lagos because of the tight security,” he said.
Adole said the suspects were arrested three weeks ago and that investigation had been concluded.
“If not because the High Courts are on recess, the suspects would have known their fate by now,” he said. (NAN)
