The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Oyo State has challenged the former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to a public debate, between him and the former governor of the state, Alhaji Lam Adesina, on who is the most incorruptible, relevant to his immediate constituency, or course of democracy in Nigeria.
In a release issued by the party’s publicity secretary, Mr. Dauda Kolawole, the ACN reacted to a statement credited to the former president, which queried the former governor’s relevance while in office.
It said the former president was, on a daily basis, losing credibility in a country he administered, saying it was contrary to his claim of patriotism and incorruptibility, adding that Obasanjo should prove to the whole world how he acquired his acclaimed colossal wealth.
“The same anti-corruption institutions established by Obasanjo were gaping with astonishing complicity while the regime he headed distributed billions of our hard-earned patrimony as graft to legislators to win a third term.
It is a shame that the former president has continued to deny any involvement in a project that would have burnt this nation but for the intervention of providence.
The ACN said that Obasanjo, in no small measure, contributed to the administrative calamity that has befallen this country.
