Former military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof Bolaji Akinyemi, and first Jigawa State Governor, Major General Olayinka Sule (rtd) were among the eminent Nigerians who graced the grand occasion organised to celebrate Jigawa State at 21.
Some of the activities organised to mark the occasion include special prayers, commissioning of roads, schools as well as public lectures.
On his arrival in the state yesterday, Babangida commissioned multi million Naira projects, including Kafin Hausa, Ruba to Bulangu and the Model International Secondary School.
In his remarks after commissioning the projects, Babangida said that his administration had, in 1991, created Jigawa and other sister states to enhance rural development and added that by what was going on in Jigawa, the mission was accomplished.
?Babangida expressed gratitude to Governor Sule Lamido for inviting him to be part of the 21st anniversary and to commission projects executed by the administration.
?He challenged whoever will succeed the Governor Lamido to work as hard and continue with the precedence set by Lamido’s government.
As part of the celebration, former Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof Bolaji Akinyemi, and first Jigawa State Governor, Major General Olayinka Sule would present papers at a public lecture slated to hold at Manpower Development Centre, Dutse, today.
