The Katsina State Government and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) have jointly released N140 million for the training of teachers in the state.
Alhaji Suleiman Dikko, the Executive Chairman of the State’s Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), disclosed this in Katsina on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Dikkp said that the?training programme, which would be a five-day workshop had started in the state.
He said, “Under the programme, a total of 4,587 primary and junior secondary school teachers are being trained simultaneously in Katsina, Daura, Dutsinma, Kankia, Malumfashi and Funtua centres.''?
The executive chairman explained that the aim of the training workshop was to build the capacity of the teachers to enable them meet the challenges of modern-day teaching.
The training, he said, covered areas such as continuous assessment (CA), ICT, career guidance, methodology, use of instructional materials and teaching aids for special education, among others.
The chairman, who said that the training would be completed on Friday, gave assurance that the workshop would boost the capacity of the teachers for enhanced productivity.
Dikko?expressed the state government’s continued commitment to education, and commended both the government and the commission for sponsoring the workshop. (NAN)
