Contrary to rumours making the rounds, Governor Umar Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has no hidden plan to go back to his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This assurance was given by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on media and public affairs, Alhaji Sani Musa Mairiga.
Clearing the air while addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Mairiga said that Governor Al-Makura was betrayed by the PDP prior to its gubernatorial primaries, because there was no level playing? ground in the PDP which necessitated his dumping the party for? the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and was overwhelmingly elected governor under the CPC platform.
“I want to categorically state here that Governor Umar Tanko Almakura has no plan to go back to PDP as being speculated because doing that would amount to ‘bitting the fingers that? fed you’.”
The SSA media described Al-makura as a man of proven integrity who would never let his people down. He therefore? called? on the good people of Nasarawa State to disregard the rumour.
The media spokesman also said that there was a cordial working relationship between the executive and the legislative arm of government in the state, because they are all working for the betterment of Nasarawa State.
