The Plateau Government on Monday inaugurated a?committee to compile?a book on the centenary anniversary of the state.
Mr Shedrack Best, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), who inaugurated the committee,?said the members would within?five weeks source and collect?relevant historical materials for submission to a presidential committee handling the grand?centenary book project.
“This committee is expected to identify historical landmarks, pictures, relics, events and historical land facts covering all aspects of our history in the last 100 years, which would be articulated in a book form for submission to the Presidential Committee,” he said.
The SSG?said that the committee would be headed by?Prof. Monday Mangvwat and has?six other members.
Best also inaugurated another committee to?liaise with the management of Jos University Teaching Hospital for the take over of its temporary site by the state government.
The committee, chaired by Dr Fom Dakwat would within six weeks take inventory of all items/ equipments, determine?outstanding liabilities, modalities for repayment and ways?to take- over of the property smoothly.
He said that the committee was also expected to recommend an alternative use for the site to ensure optimal utilisation of the property.
The SSG also inaugurated?a committee to assess all?government-owned parks, gardens?and game reserves to determine their viability.
The committee is also expected to?make recommendations to help the?government in developing viable tourist sites.
The committee, chaired by Mr John Best, also has?six weeks to?submit its?report. (NAN)
