The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal yesterday dismissed the petition of the Congress for Progressive Change(CPC) challenging the 2012 Governorship rerun election in Kebbi State.
Delivering the verdict, the tribunal judge, Justice Danlami Sambo said after hearing both sides ,the tribunal upheld the prayers of the first to sixth respondents on preliminary objection that the matter was preliminary matter and was to be entertained by conventional courts? only .
?The tribunal therefore, struck out the petition for lack of jurisdiction, on the substantive case , the tribunal unanimously dismissed the petition as the petitioners could not prove their case against the respondents .
It would be recalled that dissatisfied with the conduct of the rerun, the Congress for? Progressive Change (CPC) filled a petition before an Electoral Petition Tribunal sitting in Birnin Kebbi, challenging INEC along with other respondents for its refusal to allow it substitute its Governorship candidate, who allegedly defected to PDP with his running mate.
