Kogi To Implement White Paper On Crisis

Kogi State Governor Idris Wada has expressed his administration’s commitment to implement the 2010 white paper on the crisis in the central axis of the state, with a view to restoring permanent peace in the area.

He disclosed this at the Government House, Lokoja, when he met with leaders from the central axis of the state, led by Senator Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman, on the issue of restoring lasting peace in the area.

He declared that his administration was poised to restore permanent peace in Ebiraland, and reiterated that all those behind the recent crisis in the area would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

The governor further assured that his government would carry all the segments of the state along in the scheme of things, and expressed happiness that calm had returned to the area.

Earlier in a remark, Senator Abatemi-Usman had blamed previous administrations for wittingly or unwittingly contributing to the security challenges in the central axis of the state, and urged the governor to rectify the problem.

He pointed out that between 2006 and 2008, the area experienced fratricidal conflicts in which many lives and property were destroyed, and lamented that those implicated in the crisis were never brought to justice, rather they were protected and encouraged to carry on by an aloof government.

He therefore stressed the need for the government to enforce law and order by prosecuting those behind the heinous crimes in the area and their sponsors, no matter their position in the society.
