The Katsina state chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Dr Yushau Armayyau has blamed the failure of the party on its national leadership.
Consequently, he warned that the much talked about wrestling of power in 2015 would be elusive; “unless the leaders throw away their pride and unite the party.”
Dr Armayau said the CPC’s woes and importantly, its inability to make meaningful impacts during the 2011 elections despite optimism that trailed its formation were caused by its leaders.
Fielding question on the political alignments ahead of 2015, Armayau said “I only hope our superiors in Abuja will see reasons and things will be amended for the good of the party because they are responsible for the failures of the CPC as a party. Whether they like it or not, that is the truth of the matter”.
“The way things are going, we cannot make any headway until and unless we come together. The only way for us to make a head way is for our leaders to drop their pride and come to unite the party. If we do that, come 2015, we stand to win the election both at the national and state levels”.
“They know how to correct this mistake they have made. They should forget about their pride and call people that really matters to move the party forward. But so long as they stay in Abuja and think they can control the party the way they want, they will never succeed. CPC in that case is going to be a divided party” he added.
Dr Armayau who was recently reinstated by a court in Katsina after he was sacked by the national leadership of the CPC, decried what he referred to as absence of strong political parties in the North noting; “In the north, we don’t have a strong party so we need to have a northern party.”
