Measures have been taken to ensure adequate security of lives and property in Sokoto and its environs following reported threat by terrorists to attack the city.
One of the steps taken by the federal government yesterday was the mass deployment of security operatives from the army, air force, navy, police and State Security Service (SSS).
The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the state has consequently taken over places of worship, particularly mosques and churches, as well as government institutions and hospitality centres.
The security threat is coming after a filling station was attacked last week. Innocent people were killed and several millions of naira taken away.
By press time, the men of the security outfit were barricading strategic points in Sokoto.
LEADERSHIP gathered that ranking officers among the security operatives deployed to Sokoto met to brainstorm on the security strategies.
Sokoto State has come under attack in recent times and there have been calls for government to take decisive steps to address the issue.
