The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has said that it was counting on?“massive Igbo votes’’ to clinch the Plateau North senatorial seat?in the?by-election slated for?Oct. 6, this year.
The state Chairman of the party, Dr. Isa Jega, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Thursday that the party had always enjoyed massive support from the group.
“There are a lot of Igbos in Jos North and we shall be relying on such support this time again.
“Of course, we shall go out to campaign and get other votes, but we see the Igbos as our first base,’’ he said.
He claimed that APGA had?won the seat in 2011 but was denied victory by “some forces''.
According to him, the party also has a huge advantage in view of assistance it had continued to render to people through some non govermental organisations.
Jega said that the party would not conduct?primary election as it had already?adopted its candidate in the 2011 election.
“Our candidate is still there; he has already started campaigning and we are making all the relevant contacts. We have agreed that he should re-contest.”
He said that four aspirants had indicated interest?to run for the?Barkin Ladi House of Assembly seat which became?vacant after? the death of the legislator for the constituency, Mr Gyang Fulani.
The APGA senatorial candidate, Mr Bala Bako, who also spoke to NAN, said he had a good chance of?emerging `a victorious dark horse’’.
“By the grace of God, we are coming out in full force and we will take the seat this time around considering our popularity and the need for change since the people are tired of the PDP.''
Bako urged the electorate to vote for APGA to ensure?quality representation.?(NAN)
