The Kwara Government?said on Thursday that it would?close down illegal schools in the state in order to re-position the standard of education.
Alhaji Saka Onimago, Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the proliferation of schools in the state was becoming worrisome.
He said the ministry had directed the existing private schools proprietors to revalidate their registration and approval in order to meet government standards.
The commissioner said, “People are now running illegal nursery, primary, junior and senior secondary schools without government’s approval.
“To stem this ugly trend, we have directed all existing registered private institutions of learning to revalidate their registration and approval with the Quality and Assurance Bureau of the Ministry of Education.''?
Onimago warned that any school that failed to comply would be closed down.
He advised parents to request for approval of establishment of any school before enrolling their children. (NAN)
