The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Abubakar, has said that the Nigeria Police would not be cowed into abandoning their duty of protecting lives and property.
Abubakar gave the assurance yesterday during the disbursement of N69 million families of Police officers and men who died in the line of duty and those who sustained varying degrees of injuries as accrued insurance benefits and medical expenses.
The IG who was represented by the DIG Philemon Leha described the occasion as emotional saying the police as the most visible agency of government expose its personnel to different types of dangers in the course of duty.
“Despite these occupational hazards, the police will not be deterred but rather get more committed in performing it constitutional responsibilities. The money is to assist in alleviating the sufferings of the immediate family and other beneficiaries of the deceased,” he said.
