Unknown gunmen, last night stormed Malali community, a suburb of Kaduna metropolis, killing at least three people.
Though, the Kaduna State Police Command could not confirm any death arising from the attack, sources told LEADERSHIP SUNDAY that two persons, including an Igbo trader who owns a grocery shop, were shot dead by the assailants.
The Police spokesman, DSP Aminu Lawan, who confirmed the attack which occurred along Ghana Road in Malali, said three persons were shot by the gunmen, adding that the three injured persons were rushed to the hospital. “I cannot confirm whether the injured people died at the hospitals,” Lawan added.
According to an eyewitness who simply identify himself as Mr. Femi, the gunmen who were three in number stormed the Igbo trader’s shop along Ghana Road, shot the trader and three people who were in the shop and ran away.
“From all indications, those boys were sent to kill the man, because they came straight to the man’s shop and shot at him and all the people that were there and ran away,” he said.
He said immediately they heard the gunshots they ran away.? “On coming back, we saw the people on the floor. They were unconscious. I doubt if they would survive the bullet wounds on them. They were taken to the hospital by the Police,” Femi added.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Police said the area was immediately cordoned off by officers of the police, saying that efforts were in top gear to track down the assailants.
