Many petrol stations in Jos metropolis have remained shut to motorists due to the non -availability of petrol, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Many petrol stations in the Plateau State capital have not opened in the past one week.
The few independent marketers that were opened were dispensing a litre of petrol at between N120 and N150.
NAN reports that a litre of petrol in the black market sold for N120, while the queues were causing gridlocks on major roads where it was being sold.
Mr Uchendu Onyemachi, a motorist on a queue, said it was now a harrowing experience to buy fuel in the metropolis.
He said he had been on the queue for six hours.
“I joined the queue at about 6.00 a.m. and I am yet to get to the point of been serviced for over six hours now, ‘he said.
Mr Abubakar Yusuf, Operations Controller, Department of Petroleum Resources, told NAN that the fuel situation in the state was caused by drop in supply.
“There has been a drop in supply, but things have started to pick up and most of my staff have been deployed to the field to bring back situation reports,” he said. (NAN)
