As flood continues to ravage some parts of Ebonyi State, three persons have lost their lives and property worth millions of naira destroyed in a fresh flood disaster which hit communities in Izzi Local Government Area of the state.
They are the first? casualties that are being recorded after similar flood disaster destroyed farmlands and property worth millions of naira at Ikwo and Ohaozara Local Government Areas recently.
The Executive Secretary, Ebonyi State Emergency Management Agency, Elder Igboke Umunna confirmed the death of the victims during a joint assessment tour of the affected areas with the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA.
Meanwhile thousands of people have been displaced while hectares of farmland and houses were submerged by the flood.
Over 30 villages some of whom share boundary with Cross River State were submerged by the flood, which according to the victims have not receded for about one month.
This has led to the collapse of many houses and destruction of crops such as rice, yams, cassava and other valuable property in Igbeagu, Ebia, Izzi Ominyi and Nnodo Development Centres in the council.
