The team of police officers who unravelled the gruesome murder of Miss Cynthia Osokogu, the lady who was lured to her death by her Facebook friends, was yesterday rewarded by the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, with promotion to their next rank and a Civic Recognition Award by the National Orientation Agency, NOA.
The event which was held in the IGP Conference Hall at the Louis Edet House, saw the IGP and the director general of NOA, Mr. Mike Omeri, handing over medals and undisclosed sums to the members of the team made up of, ACP Damian Okoro, DSP Imoh Gregory, W/ASP Ogunmolasuyi Mariam, ASP Agbaje Yakubu, Insp. Edoh, W/Sgt Patience Biokoro and Sgt Frank Okorobon, all members of the Area E Festac Division, Lagos State.
The IGP who announced the promotion said the honour was to spur the recipients to greater works and to serve as incentive for their colleagues.
He said, “We shall not only police, you can now see that we are willing to encourage those who are ready to serve this country; those who are patriotic, who are committed and sincere in their commitment to duty. This is an opportunity for every member of this service that you can also be honoured and recognised. It is an opportunity for everybody to now wake up and put more in terms of service to this country because this is the only country we can call our own.”
