The Lamurde Local Government Authority in Adamawa has confirmed the death of four persons following an attack by unknown gunmen in Yoldi Kohi village, Bidoma Development Area.
Mr Dennis Kakaba, the administrator of Bidoma Development Area in Lamurde confirmed the incident while receiving State Government officials and members of the State Emergency Management Agency on Saturday.
Kakaba told the visiting officials that a group of unidentified gunmen attacked the village on Sept. 17 at about 3 a.m.
“I received a call at about 3 a.m. from some people in the village that they were under attack by some gunmen.
“So, I alerted the security agents about the development which they immediately responded to.
“Four people are confirmed dead, nine seriously injured and are still receiving medical treatment at Numan General Hospital with over one thousand people? displaced,’’ Kakaba said.
He said that about 80 houses were razed, more than 350 cows and other domestic animals burnt to ashes while property worth millions of naira were also destroyed.
He thanked the officials for the gesture and appealed to the State Government to ensure the protection of the lives and property of its citizens.
Alhaji Salihu Zumo, the Commissioner for Special Duties said that they were in the area to commiserate with the entire local government development area and the affected people.
He said that relief materials and an undisclosed amount of money had been donated to those receiving medical treatment at Numan General Hospital and other affected victims to ease their living condition.
He said that the governor was shocked over the incident and appealed to the communities in the area to live in peace with one another.
“Government will not allow such incessant killings to continue.
“A panel is going to be set up to investigate those behind this massacre,’’ Zumo said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that relief materials donated include blankets, rubber mats, bags of rice, sachet water, among others.
