?The Vice Chairman of the Concerned Indigenes of the Niger State and a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Alhaji Aweisu Wana, has been arrested by? men of the state security service in niger state for allegedly being in possession of inciting documents.
LEADERSHIP gathered that Wana was arrested for being in possession of VCD plates and documents said to be targeted at heating up and destabilising? the state.
It was learnt that Wana was arrested? in Minna late Saturday where he was being questioned on various issues the service considered to be capable of inciting the public against the state government.
Findings revealed that Aweisu Wana was arrested with the said VCD plates allegedly containing some of the allegations the concerned citizens group had earlier sent to the Niger State House of Assembly against the state government and was meant to be distributed to the 25 local government areas of the state.
It was learnt that the plates and the documents were allegedly aimed at discrediting the administration of Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.
The state Director of SSS, Dr Larry Obiagwu, confirmed? the arrest of Wana whom he said was invited over certain documents and VCD considered? inimical to state security.
“We are trying to sieve the information and the statement made by him,” Obiagwu said while? adding that the documents and the plates were capable of having major effects on the people’s mind against government.
He said everybody has legitimate windows to ventilate their grievances preparatory for 2015 elections when they would have the opportunity to elect leaders of their choice but warned that people would not be allowed to deliberately subvert the government of the day to the detriment of? peace in the state.
