The Acting Director-General of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Engr. Mohammed Haruna, says the agency has the capacity to electrify satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), if given an opportunity.
Haruna made the disclosure in a chat with journalists, during the FCT Peoples Forum held in Abuja, as part of the activities to round up, the Good Governance Tour for the metropolis.
He said, “NASENI has the capacity to electrify satellite towns of the FCT. We are ready and willing to power the districts comfortably.”
?“We can achieve this by installing solar panels across places of interest, so that even the satellite towns can stand on solar powered electricity alone, if they so wish.”
The NASENI boss highlighted that some parts of the Federal Capital City (FCC) were presently being powered by solar panels produced by the agency.
“You may not know it but some of the street lights across the city are actually being powered by solar panels produced by our agency,” Haruna added.
He further said the solar panels could benefit the administration immensely if they are deployed to the low income mass housing unit projects of the FCTA.
Recall that the FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed, recently disclosed that the administration was building units of mass housing estates for low income earners to curb the menace of illegal development within the capital city.
