Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra has called for collective efforts toward the restoration of social and moral values as well as the projection of?role models?to emulate.
Obi made the call during the burial of the former Deputy Governor of the old Anambra, Chief Vincent Aniagoh, at St. John’s Anglican Church, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area.
He gave an assurance that his adminisration would continue to recognise and honour people who served the state faithfully in their endeavours.
The governor expressed satisfaction that the collaboration with the church was yielding the desired results, citing the?“outstanding'' results recorded by students of the state in external examinations as evidence.
On the Onitsha Inland Port, Obi said it would be managed?through?public private sector partnership, adding that his administration was working to entrench a private sector-driven economy, to build entrepreneurs and generate employment.
In a sermon, the Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Dr Emmanuel Chukwuma, urged Christians to live righteously to escape the judgment of God.
Chukwuma decried what he called the “pervasive unbridled quest for materialism and self enrichment'' from public wealth in the country, warning that all would give account of their deeds before God on judgment day. (NAN)
