Nigeria Destined To Be Great — Gov. Ahmed

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed, yesterday, described Nigeria as a land of hope and unlimited potentials.

In his message on the nation’s 52nd independence anniversary, the governor said that as the most populous country in Africa and the seventh most populous country in the world, Nigeria was destined to be one of the greatest countries of the world.

Ahmed in a statement by his chief press secretary, Alhaji AbdulWahab Oba, said that Nigeria, having been listed among the “Next 11” economies and as the world’s 39th largest economy, was poised for greater prosperity.

He emphasised that factors such as large population, abundant material resources, rich culture, and conducive natural environment were signposts of a great nation.

The governor noted that, “the fact that this country in the last 52 years has survived coups d’etat and counter coups d’etat, religious insurgencies and natural disasters, tells me that this nation is not only destined to survive but to be one of the world’s greatest”, advising Nigerians to have unshakeable faith in the Nigeria project in spite of the current challenges which are not unsurmountable.

He said that if Nigerians remain committed to the ideals of building a united and virile nation, Nigeria will remain a flagship in the comity of nations across the globe, and Ahmed advised Nigerians to eschew divisive tendencies such as religious intolerance and ethnic bigotry that could hinder aspirations for national growth.
