The Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Funds (PTDF), Engineer (Dr.) Muntaka Rabe Darma, has lamented the refusal of the dwellers of the village where the petroleum college is located to vacate part of the premises, saying, “It is going to hinder the proposed take off of the college this year.”
According to him, the state government allocated the site to PTDF and was issued the certificate of occupancy accordingly, but wondered why the dwellers after been compensated refused to vacate the premises they are occupying.
The project which he said was 90 per cent completion, and upon completion would have gulped about 25 billion naira is expected to be commissioned by the end of the year, but for the presence of the dwellers, may not be possible because they are occupying part of the premises meant for part of the project.
Dr. Darma disclosed that 11 house owners within the premises were compensated with the sum of 250 thousand naira each as at 2009 to vacate the place but have adamantly refused to vacate their premises.
