Ogun State Government and Muslim chiefs in Abeokuta organised a prayer session on Saturday to mark the eighth day prayer for the late AbduLateef Adegbite.
Adegbite, who, until his death, was the Secretary-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, died in Lagos on Sept. 28 and was buried in Abeokuta on Saturday Sept. 29.
Speaking at the prayer session, Gov. Ibikunle Amosun stressed the need for all Muslim faithful to emulate the virtues of the deceased.
Amosun said that Adegbite, who died at the age of 78, lived a selfless life that was worth emulating by all.
Represented by the Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Surajudeen Adekunbi, the governor said that the state would not only immortalise him (Adegbite), but would also keep his values and virtues alive.
Former Minister of Finance Jubril Martin-Kuye said that the exemplary life of the late Adegbite was unique and would not be forgotten in a hurry.
Present at the prayer were the wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs Abimbola Fashola; Kamal’deen Akintunde, President, National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations, and Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Bashir Sule.
The others included former Minister of Power and Steel Sharafa Ishola and a representative of the Emir of Zaria, Alhaji Sheu Idris.
