The police on Wednesday arraigned before an Abuja Senior Magistrates' Court , a 40-year-old businessman, Akeem Adewale, for allegedly abducting another man's wife.
The police Prosecutor, Andrew Aichenede, told the court that on Sept. 26, one Olorunfemi Michael, of FHA, Lugbe, reported the accused at the Lugbe police station.
Michael told the police that his wife, Bosede Olorunfemi, had disappeared since Sept. 23.
The prosecutor said the wife was however found on Sept. 26, at about 7.00 am, in the accused's house at Iddo village, Abuja.
He added that when the accused was confronted on the presence of Bosede in his house, he failed to give any satisfactory explanation.
According to him, the offence is in contravention of Section 273 of the Penal Code.
Adewale, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Omolola Akindele, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
Akindele added that both sureties must have definite home and work place addresses, and that one of them must be residing within the vicinity of the accused person.
She also said that the passport photographs of the accused person and both sureties must be affixed on the bail papers.
The magistrate adjourned the case to Nov. 6, for further hearing.
