The police on Wednesday arraigned a 36-year-old woman, Iyabo Abudullahi, before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing assorted soft drinks worth N49,550.
The accused, a resident of No. 105, Kapito Rd., Mangoro, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Kemi Adeniran, told the court that the accused on Sept. 24 at about 9 a.m., stole 17 crates of soft drinks worth N39, 100 and 11 packs of Lacasera valued at N10, 450 belonging to one Mrs Awofuranye Ajoke.
Adeniran said that the drinks were stolen from the shop of the complainant at No. 31, Olatunji St., Ojota, Lagos.
She explained that the theft was jointly carried out by the accused and a former sales girl of the complainant, Bosede Ojerinde (now at large).
Adeniran said the offence contravened Section 285, Vol. 44 No. 11 of Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, A.A Williams, granted the accused bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case to Oct.19.?
