The former Secretary General of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Engr. Samuel Lando Salifu has described the late Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) Dr. Abdul-lateef Adegbite as a rare breed who mixed intelligence, human kindness, humility and? experience in the discharge of his duties.
In a letter of personal tribute made available to LEADERSHIP by? Engineer Samuel Lando Salifu, he stated that, late Adegbite’s deep desire while he was alive were for the overall welfare of Nigerians no matter their creed, language or pedigree, saying, “unlike many, he harbours no hatred for Christians but was equally a man who could discern evil from good easily, no matter where it was harboured.”
He said, his death was a national loss, while praying that the SCIA will find a worthy replacement in the interest of the common struggle to build a strong, virile and united nation where “though tribe and tongue (creed) may differ, in brotherhood we stand”.
“My condolence goes to the President General of SCIA, His Eminence, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammed Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, and the entire Muslim ummah.”
Engineer Salifu prayed for the repose of the soul of the late Islamic scribe.
