Ministers for Federal Capital Territory, Land and Housing, and Communication and Technology, Senator Mohammed Bala, Mrs Amma Pepple and Mobolaji Johnson respectively, on Friday showcased the efforts of the federal government on infrastructure, during the ongoing US-Nigeria Infrastructure Conference in Washington DC.

Addressing US investors at the summit, FCT Minister, Senator Mohammed Bala, said that his ministry would provide infrastructure services and administration for the development of a first Federal Capital Territory camparable to the best in the world by 2020.

He also assure the investors that there is a proper Master Plan that provides for them, two levels of development which he named as 'City and Regional'.

His words: “We want foreign investors to come and invest in the FCT because the government will create a well secured and conducive business environment for them. We have developed the Abuja Water Supply so we want investors to come and take advantage of this”

Senator Bala who noted that the transportation sector is a major problem because of the demograph welcomed investors to come and establish first class health sector in the Federal Capital Territory.

On her own, Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Mrs Amma Pepple, said that under the Vision 20:2020, there is provision of accessible and affordable housing as one of the strategic goals of the federal government.

Mrs Pepple continued that her ministry will establish a sustainable housing delivery system that will ensure easy access to home ownership and rental schemes by the Nigerian government.

She said that the Federal Ministry for Lands, Housing and Urban Development would also deliver adequate and affordable housing scheme for the Nigerian citizens and foreign investors.

She said further that: “We will create jobs in the housing and urban development sector through new opportunities. We will deliever adequate and affordable Nigeria that has not been met in the country by previous governments”

Also speaking, Minister of Communication and Technology, Mrs Mobolaji Johnson, who invited foreign investors to come and invest in the ICT Sector of Nigeria noted that the Nigerian ICT industries are the top priorities of the Federal government.

The minister said that investment in infrastructure positively correlated with economic development especially in developing countries, stressing that significant gaps exist in physical infrastructure, resulting in significant investment opportunities.

She continued that Nigerian ICT industries have been said to be one of the fastest ones in the world, saying that the Telecommunication and Postal Sector was the primary driver of Nigerian economy in the 2nd quarter of year 2012.

Speaking further, Mrs Mobolaji Johnson promised the American investors that her ministry?will soon establish a fuctioning broadband in order to increase the citizens' Information and Communication Technology opportunities.
She also said that the ministry would increase adoption of ICT tools by the population and as well increase local participation in the relevant Sub-Sectors of the ICT industires.
