Unknown gunmen suspected to be armed robbers numbering sixty yesterday opened fire on residents of Dogon Dawa community in Kaduna State, killing over 24 persons including the leader of the local vigilante who is the elder brother of the Village head.
The attack which took place at the remote village in Birnin Gwari local government of the state, in Kaduna state, also left more than 20 injured.
A villager, Musa Abdulkadir Dogon Dawa who spoke to LEADERSHIP said over 24 persons were killed.
He said, “8 people were instantly killed inside the mosques during the early morning prayers, while 6 members of the vigilante group including its leader, Ahmed Aliyu Makama and his son were also killed. Three among injured also died later in hospital.”
Eyewitness said the gunmen carried out the attack in the early hours of Sunday after embarking on a house to house search, shooting and killing people indiscriminately.
