Alhaji Abubakar Lawal, Manger of Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, said 16,584 pilgrims from Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states travelled from the airport ?to Saudi Arabia in 33 flights.
Lawal told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto on Monday that 5,983 pilgrims were transported in 12 flights? from Sokoto State and 11 flights conveyed 5,304 pilgrims from Zamfara.
He said 5, 297 pilgrims from Kebbi also travelled in 11 flights.
Lawal commended the effort of Kabo and Max airlines for the smooth transportation of the pilgrims.
