Former Minister of Petroleum Resources and OPEC Secretary General, Dr. Rilwanu Lukman, will today begin to chair a three day workshop billed to brainstorm on legal aspects to settlement of disputes emanating from exploration and production of oil and gas in Nigeria.
The workshop which is expected to be declared open by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Mariam Alooma Muktar, would also have in attendance, the attorney general of the federation and minister of justice, Muhammed Bello Adoke (SAN) and minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Dizeani Allison-Maduekwe.
The 3-day workshop organised by the International Institute for Petroleum, Energy, Law and Policy (IIPELP), will hold at the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Abuja.
According to a statement signed by the Founder of the Institute, Barrister Niyi Ayoola-Daniels, the workshop will among other issues, discuss the legal aspects of Exploration and Production activities in Nigeria, and settlement of disputes arising from Nigerian oil and gas activities.
The workshop is also aimed at strengthening the capacity of Nigerian Judges in resolving oil and gas investment disputes.
The institute according to Daniels was committed to training and developing human capacity in all aspects of laws and policy governing the Nigeria Petroleum and natural gas industry.
Lukman also expected to be conferred with the Institutes life time Achievement Award at the closing dinner of the workshop.
