The Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) headquarters, Nigerian Army, Minna, on Monday urged the public not to panic due to mass movement of officers and equipment within and outside Calabar.
According to a statement signed by Col. Texas Chukwu, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the movement is to enable the army to conduct the 2012 Captain to Major Promotion Examination from Oct. 22 to Oct. 26.
“I want to use this medium to inform the general public not to panic when they see mass movement of army officers, military vehicles and personnel within and outside Calabar,’’ he said.
Chukwu said it was a prerequisite training for every combatant officer in the rank of a captain to pass to qualify for Junior Division Staff Course at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna, to enable them to be promoted to the rank of major.
He said that the practical examination was an annual event in the Nigerian Army, meant to test the ability, quick mental appreciation and professional competence of young officers of the rank of captain. ?
